The Great Tythe Barn at Tetbury is situated in a beautiful Cotswold setting, which is ideal for holding a quintessentially English wedding. It is approached via a drive surrounded by 200 acres of privately owned land and its secluded picturesque location makes it a perfect location for a special day!
Sympathetically restored some years ago to include all modern amenities, the barn is Grade II listed and originally constructed during the 16th Century from Cotswold Stone. Although restored to a very high standard, it is great that the barn still retains many of its original features such as wooden oak beams and exposed stone walls. However, there are also numerous modern day comforts such as underfloor heating, tastefully decorated washroom facilities, wooden flooring and tall glass entrance doors which allow plenty of light in and guests to have a great view of the outside courtyard.
This venue is licensed for Civil Ceremonies for up to 200 guests in either the barn itself or outside under the Pagoda. It is also an ideal setting in which to hold Humanist Ceremonies, Naming Ceremonies and the Renewal of Vows. There are various spaces available at the barn in which to hold a celebration and these are as follows:
- Newnton Gallery is on a mezzanine level within the barn and will accommodate up to 65 guests.
- Shipton is located at the rear of the barn (at ground floor level) and seats up to 100 dining guests.
- Estcourt is the largest area within the barn (at ground floor level) and can accommodate up to 200 dining guests in a variety of different seating configurations. This is a particularly pretty area having a romantic fairy lighting canopy!
- Tythe House Orangery is a separate location within the grounds of The Great Tythe Barn and will seat up to 65 guests.
During the evening the whole of the ground floor of the barn can be utilised and this will accommodate 350 guests. There is a small stage area for a disco or band to set up and a dancefloor. However the venue does have a noise limiter which is set to 100 decibels.
Disabled guests won't have any difficulties on the ground floor of the barn as it has plenty of access ramps and disabled toilets. However due to it being a Grade II listed building, there is NO lift to the first floor mezzanine level.
All food at the venue must be provided by one of the barns three chosen caterers. The can create a traditional (or non-traditional if required!) 3 course Wedding Breakfast, Barbeque or Hog Roasts. They also supply canapes and buffets for an evening reception.
There is also gorgeous accommodation available on site at The Great Tythe Barn in one of 12 en-suite Cotswold stone cottages. Accommodation is provided on a bed & Continental breakfast basis and is perfect for guests staying over after a wedding or party at it is just a few steps from the barn to the cottages! There is one room that is suitable for guests who are disabled or who have mobility problems.
Not only is The Great Tythe Barn the most gorgeous location for a wedding but it also provides full Conference facilities, be that for a small meeting or full day conference/seminar. It is ideally located for easy access from both the M4 and M5 motorways and the barn can be separated into different areas to be used according to the client's requirements. For smaller meetings/conferences, clients can also book the Tythe House Orangery area which forms part of the Manor House on site.
In conclusion this is a beautiful, captivating venue, ideal in which to hold a wedding celebration and is perfect as it also offers accommodation for guests.
